About Me

Dr Kat Harper is a highly specialist clinical psychologist who has worked in the field of mental health and psychology for over ten years. Kat has developed her skills in a diverse range of contexts (including CAMHS and a specialist trauma service), working with people with a range of experiences, diagnosis and across the lifespan. Kat draws on therapeutic techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Adolescents and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy in order to adapt interventions to suit young people’s needs and preferences.

Kat values collaborative, person-centred and systemic working to ensure well rounded, multifaceted support for individuals and their families. She is experienced in advocating the needs of the people and families that she works with to other professionals, whilst also helping people to develop their own understanding through the use of shared formulations and theoretic psychological knowledge. Kat has experience working alongside schools, educational psychologists, social workers, occupational health therapists, counsellors and family therapists to support people across varied areas of their present experiences. Kat has a wide range of research practice and has presented research at the Psychology of Sports and Exercise conference in Glasgow (2017) and the DCP conference in Manchester (2019), the latter of which has been published.

Kat is a registered practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC, PYL041654)
