ITV News: Grief and Loss

  • Dr Daniel Weisberg was featured on ITV news for his expert opinion on the importance of receiving appropriate psychological support following grief and loss.
  • He explained the value of using different modalities with young children, such as drawing, role play, and toy figures, to help reveal anxieties and questions that they may not yet be able to express in words.
  • This interview was featured live on the ITV West Country news, and as an article on their website.

The Atlantic - The New Millennial Parenting Anxiety

  • Faith Hill from The Atlantic invited Dr Weisberg to provide psychological insight into the impacts of travelling as a family with young children for the feature The New Millennial Parenting Anxiety.
  • In this interview, Dr Weisberg highlighted that family vacations create lasting memories for adults as well as children. Parents may find joy in activities they wouldn’t have chosen without kids, improvising along the way and learning to let go of control. Even simple moments, like entertaining a child with a magazine story or a crinkly wrapper, can become treasured. He emphasised that what children love most about travelling often doesn’t require going far, and that every day “micro-adventures” can be just as memorable as big trips.

Emotionally Based School Avoidance on the BBC

  • In this interview for a BBC programme on Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), Dr Weisberg explored what EBSA is, looks like and how it impacts children and their families.

  • Dr Weisberg also shared specialist insights into why children thrive when they’re given meaningful responsibility and how parents can support their child when they’re worried about attendance, anxiety and school avoidance.

We're on the BBC again! We're Talking About Rewards for BBC's Tiny Happy People

  • Barbara Di Benedetto, one of CAYP Psychologist’s highly experienced clinical psychologists, spoke to the BBC to consider how to reward your child.
  • Barbara provided “top-tips” about rewarding, and how to choose the right rewards for the right reasons.

A Rise in Violence in Schools

  • At the end of February 2024, the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) released a report stating that a third of the 800 teachers surveyed in Aberdeen said they had been physically assaulted.
  • Dr Daniel Weisberg was invited to talk with Martin Geissler on BBC Scotland’s primetime radio programme, Drivetime 
  • The brief conversation highlighted that children who are violent in school do not turn up one day and become violent. It is a gradual deterioration of behaviour and emotional control, and more early years support is essential.

Supporting Children Through Grief

  • When the Queen died in September 2022, there was a lot of disruption, particularly for children.
  • Dr Daniel Weisberg was asked to comment on the psychological impact of the Queen’s death, and how to support children through grief.
