About Me
Stef has worked in various NHS mental health, learning disability and neurodevelopmental teams since 2008. She is experienced in working with children, young people and adults who experience a range of psychological, social and emotional difficulties, and has a special interest in exploring relationships within families, and using the child-parent relationship to develop the child’s psychological wellbeing.
Stef qualified as a counselling psychologist in 2013 at Teesside University, with clinical placements in the NHS, voluntary sector and educational settings, including a specialist residential school for neurodiverse young people with mental health difficulties. It was here that Stef developed her passion for working with children and young people on the autism spectrum. Upon qualifying as a psychologist, Stef moved to Liverpool and worked in adult learning disability and autism assessment services for 3 years. She then moved back to the North East to work in North Tyneside, supporting NHS and council employees experiencing mental health difficulties. Stef currently works for Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, conducting comprehensive autism, ADHD and cognitive assessments with children and young people
Stef adopts a creative, flexible and curious approach in her clinical work. She is especially experienced in supporting parents through attachment focused exploration, and in supporting young people and adults through various psychological models of therapy, including cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
Stef joined CAYP Psychology in 2021 and offers appointments via Zoom video conferencing, and also appointments in the North East clinic in Gosforth. Stef is a registered practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC, PYL30385).
