About Me

Jennifer is a senior Clinical Psychologist who has worked in NHS therapy services for 18 years. She has substantial experience of working with children, young people and families with a wide range of psychological difficulties. Jennifer has completed post qualification training in a variety of evidence based therapeutic models including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), interpersonal psychotherapy for depression (IPT-A), and dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT). In particular , Jennifer specialises in working with children and young people with eating disorders and body image difficulties. She has extensive experience of working with obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety, depression, and self-harm. She recognises the importance of working with the families of her clients and is experienced in enabling parents and carers to support young people who are struggling with mental health difficulties.

Prior to her clinical training, Jennifer worked as a therapy assistant for the Priory group delivering group interventions for eating disorders. She then worked as an assistant psychologist for an NHS eating disorders team delivering interventions for bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. During this time, she co-authored a book on the treatment of body image disturbance. She trained to be a clinical psychologist at the University of Southampton and during this time worked within adult, older adult, learning disability and specialist adolescent in-patient services. She has worked with children and adolescents since qualifying in 2006 and during this time has been the lead clinician in her local area CAMHS team for Eating Disorders, in addition to leading on neurodevelopmental services for assessing and diagnosing young people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and ADHD.

Jennifer was awarded a first-class honours degree from the University of Sussex in Applied Psychology in 2003. She completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Southampton in 2009. She was awarded a distinction for her post graduate certificate in evidence based psychological approaches for children and young people in 2014.
