About Me

Dr Hasan Waheed is a Principal Clinical Psychologist with a decade of experience working with children, young people, and families in the NHS as well as the Voluntary, Charity and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector.
After he qualified as a Clinical Psychologist, Hasan worked for East Lancashire Children and Adolescent Services (ELCAS). He is now working as a Principal Clinical Psychologist and Training Lead for Just Psychology CIC. He also holds the positions as follows: Principal Clinical Psychologist at Ihsaan CIC and Clinical Psychologist at Freedom from Torture. These roles have allowed him to specialise in supporting children and families from culturally diverse backgrounds. He focuses on important cultural issues like faith and spirituality from an Islamic perspective, the effects of migration on family life (including being apart and coming back together), dealing with the stress of adjusting to a new culture, the impact of intergenerational trauma, and racism.
Hasan is passionate about helping young people navigate life’s challenges, their social and cultural context, and in turn achieve their full potential. He understands that this means working with systems around the child, and not in isolation. His approach is rooted in evidence-based practices but tailored to the individual’s needs, strengths and resources. He draws upon principles from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) and Narrative Therapy. He has continued his professional development by completing courses in Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET Institute) and Islamic Psychology (International Association of Islamic Psychology) in order to provide holistic and culturally appropriate assessments and interventions.
In addition to therapeutic support, Hasan also offers cognitive assessments to gain a deeper understanding of a young person’s cognitive profile including their strengths and any areas for development. He has specific experience in completing assessments for dyslexia, dyscalculia and dysgraphia as well as ADHD assessments. Hasan is able to provide invaluable insights and guide recommendations for targeted educational support.
He lectures both at university level and for mental health and therapy practitioners. He is a presenter at national conferences and has published articles in the field. He has served on the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Board for the British Psychological Society.
Hasan is a registered practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (PYL039971) and a member of the British Psychological Society.
