About Me

Amy has worked within the NHS since 2019 as a Clinical Psychologist, supporting people across the lifespan from young children to older adults. She has worked with children and adults who have been given the diagnosis of a learning disability and/or an autism spectrum condition. She has worked closely with children and adolescents who have experienced brain injury, and older adults diagnosed with dementia.

Prior to training as a Clinical Psychologist, Amy worked as a Speech and Language Therapist within the NHS for 13 years, supporting children and adults with a diagnosis of a learning disability, complex medical needs and neurological conditions.

Amy has substantial experience of completing autism assessments, neuropsychology assessments and cognitive assessments to develop an understanding of concerns and inform recommendations for individuals, families, support staff and schools. She has experience of using a biopsychosocial understanding of behaviour that families or services may be finding challenging, and expertise in offering reflective sessions for staff teams.

Amy has a special interest in how to support connections and building relationships with people who may communicate without words. Amy has published peer-reviewed research in to the impact of music on people diagnosed with dementia.
