After obtaining her undergraduate Psychology degree in 2006, she completed in 2009 a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology with the highest honours. Barbara undertook her clinical training in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the University Hospital of Palermo (Italy), where she was involved in clinical and research activities, publishing papers on different topics.

During her experience as a Trainee Psychologist, Barbara developed a particular interest in neuropsychological functions; in particular, she conducted an academic research on the cognitive features of anxiety disorders.

She is trained in the application of behaviour analytic principles and has extensive experience of implementing home and school based behavioural support plans for children and young people of different ability levels.

During her work in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) within Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, Barbara provided assessment, formulation and therapy to children and young people experiencing a variety of mental health difficulties. Barbara was also part of a multidisciplinary team providing assessment for Autism Spectrum Condition, being trained in the application of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS 2).

Barbara currently works in York CAMHS within a specialist intensive assessment and intervention service for families with children and young people who live with Autism and Learning Disabilities.
